The biggest news from the last week in the world of property & architecture is the completion of Kengo Kuma’s V&A Dundee, making it Scotland’s first design museum.

Kengo Kuma’s stunning V&A museum in Dundee has been completed. Opening on the 15th September, the Japanese architect has designed a beautiful ‘cliff-like’ structure, which becomes Scotland’s first design museum. The building cost £80m and was designed to mimic Scotland’s dramatic coastline.

More activity is going on a bit further south in London’s V&A as CLT, a type of engineered wood that is much stronger than standard timber, is debuted as the London Design Festival in a nine metre high maze structure. The intention from Waugh Thistleton was to demonstrate the potential of carbon-neutral buildings.

Albania’s new Blloku Cube in Tirana has begun construction. The design from Stefano Boeri Architettis will have an intricate facade made up of three-dimensional aluminium triangles, which will act as a sunscreen to shade its glazed walls and also reflect the light creating a glowing effect. It will be multi-use with offices inside, a shopping centre and restaurant on the rooftop.
