There were a total of 5 other museums up for the award, including Brooklands Museum in Weybridge, but it was the museum in Cornwall that came out on top. Inside is a gallery celebrating contributions of 20th Century artists who worked in the area, hosting exhibitions dedicated to the likes of Rebecca Warren, Virginia Woolf and Patrick Heron. The recipient of this prestigious award recieves a cheque for £100,000 to put into the museum to further it’s potential. Art Fund director Stephen Deuchar praised the gallery’s programme as “at once adventurous, inclusive and provocative”.
