Government approval of Heathrow’s third runway is the big news to hit the headlines this week, aswell as bumps in the road for the Battersea Power Station development. Read on to get right up to date with all the latest in the world of property & architecture.

The long debate over London’s airport problem has finally come to an end as the Government approves a £14bn plan to build a third runway at Heathrow Airport. Ministers have described it as a “historic moment” for the UK, with the additional runway facilitating an extra 700 planes a day. The plan was passed, despite several critics stating it is too expensive and that it will breach the UK’s legal limits on air pollution and increase noise pollution around the area – Boris Johnson has even vowed to “lie down in front of bulldozers” to prevent it! The current proposal, which is due to be completed in 2026, is to be built over the M25 and will bring millions more people to London, satisfying the ever rising demand for access to the capital and wider regions of the UK. Backers of the proposal are predicting a £187bn boost to the UK economy and the creation of 180,000 jobs.
