Other news stories include New Zealand’s ban on foreign property ownership and an increasing situation in the Hong Kong property market.

The Ponte Morandi Bridge in Genoa collapsed this week, killing 43 people and injuring many more. Twelve people remain missing and authorities fear the death toll could yet rise. Designed by prolific Italian engineer Riccardo Morandi in the 1960s, the reason for the collapse remains a mystery, however authorities are predicting recent weather had a part to play, with landslides potentially destabilising the base of the bridge. Investigations into the safety and stability of bridges all over Europe have been triggered as a result.
