Photographer Nikola Olic has produced some new abstract photographic magic. The photos he has captured bring out the best of the buildings and accentuate the harsh edges and sharp lines. The way he shoots makes the abstract images almost disorientating, as the striking architecture clashes with the sky. The Texas-based Serbian-born photographer clearly has a rather good ability to nail an abstract photo and identify the character of the building he is shooting. Great architecture and great photography. We like, we like them a lot.

Sky Building - Banc of America - Abstract Photography

Sky Building – Banc of America – Abstract Photography

‘Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Ocean Boulevard, the Banc Of America building was expected to have some blue on its facade. In this photograph it is mostly the blue of the clear California sky, as the facade itself is just bright concrete and shiny reflective windows. The blue sky is combined with the blue art display in front of the building, and connected to it only visually. But from under the artistic tarp, the connection with the building and the sky is easily made and captured in slow foot traffic around it.’

‘Warmed by the unobstructed afternoon sun, individual parts of the large Art Deco collection at the Fair Park Complex in South Dallas come to more attention. This storage facility behind the football stadium serves little public purpose during the yearly Texas State Fair which attracts millions of visitors, leaving the building in beautiful obscurity interrupted occasionally by a football match. Art Deco is the rule of the land in this park, concentrated here in large numbers for the Texas Centennial Exposition back in 1936.’

‘An attractive white facade on the coast of barcelona can overwhelm standing by itself in a photographic frame. combining it with an unrelated close-by culture center and its own mirrored facade helps balance and bring both facades into focus and comparison.’

He has produced other brilliant shots of architecture too!
